MIKE AVERY WINS "SPORTSMAN OF THE YEAR"  JANUARY 2009

Veteran outdoor broadcaster Mike Avery has been named “Sportsman of the Year” by the staff of The Sportsman Channel and InterMedia Outdoors.

The honor is given to the Sportsman Channel producer who consistently goes above and beyond what is expected in producing a top quality program.  In addition, Avery was cited for his promotion of hunting and the outdoor lifestyle as well as his efforts to grow and market The Sportsman Channel.
The award was presented at the 5^th Annual Sportsman Channel Awards Ceremony held in Orlando, Florida.

“I’m very pleased and honored to get this award” says Avery, “especially at a time when The Sportsman Channel is becoming a major force in the world of outdoor television”.

Mike is the host and producer of “Jay’s Outdoor Magazine with Mike Avery”.  He also produces the “Fishing 411” show seen on The Sportsman Channel.

Avery was also awarded “Best Upland Bird Hunting Show” for a Jay’s Outdoor Magazine program that featured Jeff and Kathy Poet of Jay’s Sporting Goods on a South Dakota pheasant hunt.

Jay’s Outdoor Magazine with Mike Avery is seen on commercial stations across Michigan, in addition to national distribution on The Sportsman Channel.  That channel is available to more than 15 million homes on cable and DIRECTV.
